Origin and history
The Bic en coin villa is an emblematic construction of the Touquet-Paris-Plage, located in the Pas-de-Calais department. Built in 1925 by architect Louis Quételart, it illustrates the seaside architectural style of the early twentieth century. The villa is distinguished by its location on a corner plot, combining two building bodies with a gable marked on the facade. Its facades and roofs, covered with mechanical Flemish tiles, have been listed as historical monuments since 1 December 1997.
The villa, probably in reinforced concrete covered with coating, consists of a central hall distributing two wings: one dedicated to services, the other to rooms. Its architecture contrasts with other local villas such as Apple of Api or Les Mutins, highlighting the diversity of Louis Quételart's formal vocabulary. Located at 222 Avenue des Phares, at the corner of Rue Joseph-Duboc, it embodies the region's seaside architectural heritage.
The corner villa Bic is part of a historical context where Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, a growing seaside resort, attracts a bourgeoisie in search of secondary residences. This type of construction reflects the urbanization and tourist development of the Opal Coast in the early 20th century, marked by a bold and functional architecture, adapted to seaside lifestyles.
