Origin and history

Villa Bonnabel is an iconic building located at 107-111 Avenue du Général-Leclerc in Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle. Built in 1927 by Thiebaut, it is distinguished by its stained glass windows created by Georges Janin between 1928 and 1931. This monument illustrates the bourgeois residential architecture of the interwar period, with particular attention to artistic details, including interiors and facades.

In the 1970s, the villa suffered notable damage, including the construction of a gas station at its entrance, the partial destruction of its enclosure walls, and the walling of a bay window. These alterations, fortunately reversible, were corrected in the 1980s, allowing the villa to regain its original appearance. Since 1987, its facades, roofs and interiors (including stained glass windows) have been protected as historical monuments.

The Villa Bonnabel embodies a preserved architectural and artistic heritage, bearing witness to the know-how of the local artisans of the time. Its inscription as a historic monument underlines its importance in the landscape of the city, alongside other private hotels in the city. Today, it remains a private property, accessible only from outside, but continues to fascinate with its elegance and turbulent history.
