Gallo-Roman villa (vestiges) (Case AD 1, 6, 217, 251): inscription by order of 15 October 1985

Origin and history

The Gallo-Roman villa of Arandon-Passins, located in the department of Isère (38), is an archaeological vestige typical of the Gallo-Roman period. This monument, inscribed in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 15 October 1985, bears witness to the Roman occupation in the region. The remains, located at 132 Route de Crevières in Passins, are protected under the cadastral elements AD 1, 6, 217 and 251.

The Gallo-Roman period in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and more precisely in Isère, corresponds to an era of intense Romanization, where rural villas played a central role in the agricultural and social organization. These areas, often exploited by local elites or Roman settlers, were centres of production and daily life. The villa of Arandon-Passins fits into this context, although the specific details of its history and its occupants remain poorly known.

The site is now referenced in the Mérimée database under the code Insee 38297 attached to the commune of Arandon-Passins. Its location, marked as "a priori satisfactory" (level 6/10), allows an approximate identification thanks to GPS coordinates. No additional information is available on its accessibility, possible visits, or current use (rent, guest rooms, etc.).
