Origin and history

Villa La Solitude, located in Villefavard (Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine), is a 19th-century architectural complex composed of a villa, a temple and a farm. These buildings, spread over several plots (352, 488, 1489, 1490, 1491), were listed in the Historical Monuments by order of 12 April 2016. Their preservation bears witness to the heritage importance of this site, now privately owned.

The official address of the villa, according to the Mérimée base, is the 1 Carrefour of 19 March 1962 in Villefavard (code INSEE 87206). Although the GPS location is considered "passable" (note 5/10), the site remains identifiable in the local landscape. No information is available on its accessibility to the public, its possible current functions (visits, accommodation) or its detailed history before the 19th century.

The Limousin, a historical region now integrated into New Aquitaine, was in the nineteenth century marked by a rural and artisanal economy. Villas like Solitude often reflected the social ascent of wealthy owners, linked to local industry or administration. These residences, surrounded by agricultural estates, symbolized a bourgeois way of life in rural areas, contrasting with traditional peasant dwellings.
