Origin and history

Villa Roux, located in Fontaines-sur-Saône in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, is a major architectural achievement of the 20th century. Classified as a "bubblehouse", she embodies the creative audacity of her architect, Antti Lovag, and is distinguished by its organic shapes and neat finishes. This project, one of Lovag's latest works, is the result of an in-depth dialogue between the sponsors and the architect, marking a rare collaboration in his journey.

The construction site of Villa Roux spans from 1985 to 1991, six years of meticulous work. Lovag, surrounded by his team of specialised entrepreneurs, has perfect command of the techniques necessary to achieve this futuristic architecture. The interiors, thought with special attention, reflect a deep reflection on the use and functionality of spaces, integrating harmoniously form and utility.

Enlisted in full to the Historic Monuments by order of 13 January 2017, the villa Roux includes both the building and the plot on which it stands (cadastre AI n°258). Its official address, at Chemin Vetter (place called "Les Marronniers"), bears witness to its anchoring in the local landscape. This heritage recognition underscores its importance as an innovative architectural testimony of the twentieth century.
