Origin and history
The Scheyder villa, located in Schiltigheim in the Lower Rhine, was built in 1906 by architect Franz Scheyder, whose name it bears. This building is part of the Heimatschutz movement, an architectural current advocating a return to regionalist forms at the beginning of the 20th century. Its style reflects this desire to reinterpret local traditions, in response to the industrial and cosmopolitan influences of the time.
The villa was classified Historic Monument by decree of 7 July 2022, thus protecting the entire building, including its cadastral plot. Owned by the municipality of Schiltigheim, it bears witness to the Alsatian architectural heritage and the influence of Germanic cultural movements in the region, which was then marked by cross-border artistic exchanges.
Its official address, 55 route du Général de Gaulle, corresponds to the cadastral data and archives of the Merimée database. Although its GPS location is considered "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10), no information is available on its current accessibility to the public, whether it be visits, rentals or accommodation.
