Origin and history
Villa Teinturier, located in Laheycourt in the East, is a bourgeois residence built between 1923 and 1930. Its architecture is inspired by the neo-Palladian model, structured around a well of central light surmounted by a gazebo. The main façade combines neo-baroque and neo-Roman influences, with an elliptical oculus, while the secondary facades adopt a clean style. Inside, intact distribution and amenities reflect the standards of hygiene and home life of elites at the beginning of the 20th century, mixing naturalist currents, Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
The villa illustrates the architectural eclecticism of the inter-war period, where classical heritage and international modernity intersect. Its classification as Historic Monument in 2014 protects the entire building, its interior decorations and its garden, testifying to a preserved bourgeois heritage. The architect Ernest Médard is the owner of the project, combining functionality and aesthetics in a coherent set, representative of the luxurious villas of the time.
The site, although little documented on its precise location (level 6/10), remains a remarkable example of adapting historical styles to contemporary needs. Its official address, 28 rue du Général-Porson, and its Insee code (55271) attach it to the Meuse, in the former Lorraine region. Protected features also include the soil of the plot, emphasizing the importance of its landscape environment.
