Cheminée du 15s on the first floor: inscription by order of 26 October 1925

Origin and history

The Villars-Santenoge Farm is a building located in the commune of Villars-Santenoge, Haute-Marne, in the Grand Est region. This monument is included in the inventory of Historic Monuments, although the information available on its detailed history remains limited. Only its 16th century fireplace, located on the first floor, was officially protected by order of 26 October 1925.

The farms of that time in Champagne-Ardenne played a central role in the local economy, often linked to agriculture and livestock. They also served as a place of life for peasant families, organized around community structures and traditional know-how. This type of building reflects the typical rural architecture of the region, marked by local materials and construction techniques adapted to the climate and available resources.
