Origin and history

The chapel Sainte-Anne de Bovalo is located in the hamlet of Bovalo, 50 meters northwest and below Camera, the main village of the commune of Centuri in Haute-Corse. This place, accessible by a non-carrossable road, houses a chapel surrounded by houses partially in ruins, reflecting an isolated but preserved rural heritage.

Starting in the 2010s, the chapel bell tower showed signs of fragility, requiring urgent work to avoid its collapse. An association was created to raise funds, supported by personalities such as singers M and Thomas Dutronc. These efforts led to the listing of the chapel as historic monuments on 30 June 2020.

The chapel, owned by the commune of Centuri, is located on Parcel No. 597, section C of the cadastre. Its inscription as a historic monument covers the entire building, highlighting its heritage importance for the region. Despite its isolation, it remains a symbol of the preservation of Corsican religious heritage.
