Origin and history
The Pont des Ânes, also known as Pont de la Bogne, is a stone structure located on horseback in the municipalities of Vindrac-Alayrac and Les Cabannes, in the Tarn department. Built in the 14th century, it spans the brook of Cerou and is characterized by its two arches. This bridge was originally intended to facilitate the passage of donkeys and mules carrying cereals to the mill of La Bogne, a grain mill whose activity depended directly on this infrastructure.
The designation of the bridge as Historic Monuments, effective July 19, 2006, recognizes its heritage value and its historic role in the local economy. The monument, owned by the municipalities concerned, bears witness to the importance of medieval communication routes for artisanal activities such as milling. Its sober and functional architecture reflects the practical needs of the era, where bridges were used as much for trade as for the structuring of rural areas.
Available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum bases, indicate that the bridge is associated with the cadastre of plots A 371 (Vindrac-Alayrac) and B 676 (Les Cabannes). Although its exact location is estimated as "a priori satisfactory" (level 6/10), its official administrative address remains 5021 La Bogne, 81170 Vindrac-Alayrac. No information is provided on its current accessibility or possible tourist vocation.
