Origin and history
La Ferme à Isidore is a farm built on 2 June 1832 for François M Million, as evidenced by the inscriptions on the side sheets of the facade. Located in the hamlet of Basseville, near the capital of Combloux, it is distinguished by its low slope roof and characteristic interior galleries. The construction mixes stone, coated and wood, with an attic raised on two levels, surrounded by galleries on three sides.
Around 1900, the farm was acquired by Mr Martinelli, marking the gradual abandonment of his agricultural activity. Its architecture reflects 19th century local techniques, with an east gable and a wooden frame. The hamlet, initially isolated, was integrated into the town of Combloux in the 20th century with tourist development, now juxtaposing resort buildings and modern constructions.
The farm, owned by the commune since 2002, was included in the additional inventory of historical monuments on 13 September 2004. Its state of conservation and authenticity make it a rare testimony of Savoyard rural heritage, contrasting with neighbouring farms partially transformed by tourist urbanization.
The original inscriptions, the stone and wood structure, and the layout of the galleries illustrate the constructive and social practices of the time. The farm embodies the transition from a traditional farming lifestyle to the emergence of an economy oriented towards Alpine tourism, typical of Haute-Savoie.
