Origin and history
Sainte-Consorce Church is a Catholic building located in the municipality of Sappey, Haute-Savoie. It is dedicated to Saint Consorce, a nun of the order of Cluny who lived in the sixth century. This religious monument, in the so-called "sard" neo-classical style, is distinguished by its architecture and its history linked to local devotion.
At the beginning of the 14th century, Saint Consorce became the patron saint of the maladry of Saint-Clair, then of the parish of Sappey. This transition marks its importance in the spiritual and community life of the region. The present church, rebuilt in a neo-classical style, reflects this medieval heritage while integrating more recent architectural influences.
The neo-classical "sardine" style of the church bears witness to the cultural and artistic exchanges between Savoie and Piedmont-Sardin at a time not specified in the sources. This monument remains a symbol of the religious and historical heritage of Haute-Savoie, linked to the figure of Saint Consorce and the order of Cluny.
