Origin and history
The Hotel de Sénecterre, also known as Hotel de la Ferté Saint-Nectaire, is a private hotel located in Paris, in the 7th arrondissement. Built between the end of the 17th century and the second half of the 18th century, it is distinguished by its typical architecture of this period, blending classicism and elegance.
The building is located at 24 rue de l'Université and 17-19 rue de Verneuil. It was listed as historic monuments on 19 November 1991, recognizing its heritage value. Today, it hosts a school as well as the Ministry of Crafts and Commerce.
The hotel was designed under the direction of architect Thomas Gobert, the architect identified in the sources. Its structure includes a street building, a hotel itself with a wing in return, as well as courtyards and a garden. These elements, protected by the 1991 Order, illustrate the historic and architectural significance of the site.
The property of the hotel is shared between the State and the municipality of Paris. Its inscription in the Mérimée base and its precise location, although sometimes subject to approximations, make it an emblematic monument of the Parisian heritage.
