Origin and history

Château du Boucheron is a 19th-century building located in the commune of Bosmie-l'Aiguille, Haute-Vienne (New Aquitaine). Built in 1869 on the initiative of Valentin Amilhau, it rises on an agricultural estate which remains a former home dating back to 1767. The castle consists of a five-span main body, a side pavilion to the east, and two asymmetric towers: one polygonal to the north, the other square to the west.

The monument was enlarged in 1876, although the precise sources of this extension remain to be confirmed. Today, the Château du Boucheron welcomes the services of the municipality of Bosmie-l'Aiguille, thus marking its anchor in the local administrative life. Its architecture reflects the stylistic influences of the 19th century, a period of transformation of the French countryside.

The original agricultural estate bears witness to the evolution of rural properties in Upper Vienna. The previous house of 1767, still visible, recalls the pre-existing history of the site before the construction of the present castle. The latter is part of the built heritage of the region, alongside other castles of the Haute-Vienne.
