Origin and history
The dolmens of Kerprovost, also called Roc'h-er-Lann, are two megalithic monuments located in Belz, Morbihan. They date from Neolithic and are about 25 meters apart. These funeral structures both open to the south-south-east, a typical orientation of the burials of this era.
The eastern dolmen, bounded by seven orthostats, is 3.60 m long by 2.70 m wide. His cover table is partially collapsed. The western dolmen, larger with ten orthostats, is 4 m long by 3.60 m wide. Its roof table, 2.40 m in diameter, is also collapsed inside the bedroom.
One of the two dolmens was classified as historical monuments by order of 8 June 1945, although the archives do not specify which. These monuments are mentioned in megalithic inventories from the late 19th century, such as that of Felix Gaillard in 1892, which documents the Morbihan sites.
Their exact location is approximate, with an estimated accuracy of 5/10 depending on the geographic databases. They are part of a wider set of megalithic sites characteristic of the Breton region, reflecting the funeral and cultural practices of the Neolithic.
