Origin and history
The Beaucé mansion is a building dating back to the 14th or 15th century, located on the banks of the Solesmes River, in the Sarthe department. Several times redesigned or enlarged over the centuries, it extends over a 12 hectare estate including outbuildings such as a chapel, a dovecote, a kennel and stables. This site has been included in the general inventory of cultural heritage since 1990, highlighting its historical and architectural importance.
The mansion has gained a recent media reputation by becoming the property of François Fillon and his wife Penelope since 1993. He was at the heart of public attention during the right-wing primary campaign in 2016, then in the Fillon case in 2017. A search was carried out on 3 March 2017 by the Central Anti-Corruption Office as part of an investigation into the real estate assets of politicians.
Although the mansion is associated with contemporary figures, its ancient history remains partially documented. Its architecture and layout reflect the successive evolution of a seigneurial residence, typical of the constructions of this period in Pays de la Loire. The mention of a possible connection with the Guesclin family, although not detailed in the sources, suggests broader historical connections with the local nobility.
