Origin and history

Removille Road Cross is a historical monument located in the Vosges department, in the Grand Est region. Dating from the 16th century, it is characteristic of religious or memorial buildings erected along roads and paths at that time. Its classification by decree of 3 June 1908 demonstrates its heritage importance and its preservation by the authorities.

This type of cross, often made of stone, served as a spiritual or commemorative landmark for travellers and residents. In the 16th century, the Vosges were a region marked by strong agricultural and artisanal activity, where religious monuments played a central role in community life. The Removille Cross, now owned by the municipality, illustrates this tradition of signposting and devotion.
