Origin and history

The Menhir de Kerdalaë-Lesconil is a megalithic monument located in the territory of the commune of Plobannalec, in the southern Finistère. This type of structure, characteristic of prehistory, is often associated with ritual or commemorative functions, although its exact use for this specimen is not documented in available sources. Menhirs, typical of the Breton landscape, reflect the cultural and social practices of neolithic communities.

At that time, the region was marked by an emerging agrarian organization and beliefs related to natural forces. These monuments, erected with rudimentary techniques, probably symbolized territorial or spiritual landmarks for local populations.
