Origin and history
The Château de Cramier, located in Saint-Pantaléon-de-Larche en Corrèze, finds its origins in a mas mentioned in 1470. At that time, the estate already included a house, a tower, a cudier, stables, a garden and an alder. These elements attest to an old occupation and a structured agricultural operation long before the construction of the present castle.
Before the French Revolution, the whole estate was organized around these utility and residential buildings. The present castle, built in the seventeenth century, adopts an open court arrangement, typical of the noble rural architecture of the period. The main house body, rectangular in shape, is flanked by a central stair tower and connected to the commons by an entrance porch, forming a harmonious ensemble.
The facades and roofs of the U-building were inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 24 May 1991, thereby recognizing the heritage value of the building. Today, the castle remains a private property and is not accessible to the public. Its location, specified as "a priori satisfactory", places the monument at 551 Rue de Cramier, confirming its anchoring in the local landscape.
