Origin and history

The Grand'Combe-des-Bois Farm is a rural building dating from the late 16th century to the early 17th century. It is distinguished by its typical architecture of this period, with a Renaissance window on the south-east facade, classified as Historic Monument by decree of 6 December 1984. This architectural detail reflects the influence of urban styles in the rural constructions of the period.

Located in the Doubs department, this farm is part of the historical landscape of Burgundy-Franche-Comté, a region marked by strong agricultural and artisanal activity in the 16th and 17th centuries. The farms of this period played a central role in the local economy, serving both as a place of production, storage and housing for peasant families. Their preservation now offers an overview of lifestyles and construction techniques then.

The location of the farm, at approximately 9 Rue des Jonquilles, is documented in the Merimée base, although geographical accuracy is considered poor (level 5 out of 10). This monument, although partially protected, remains a representative example of Franche-Comté's rural heritage, reflecting the architectural and social transitions between Renaissance and modern times.
