Origin and history
The former convent of the Minimes de Roussillon, founded in 1608 on the initiative of Just de Tournon, is part of a series of regional conventural creations at the beginning of the seventeenth century. It was established on the site of an ancient parish church attested since the end of the twelfth century. The buildings, arranged quadrilaterally around a central cloister, house decorations painted in trompe-l'oeil (pilasters, engraved drawings) and inscriptions, especially in the bases.
The convent, classified as Historical Monument by decree of 17 February 1997, illustrates post-Tridentine religious architecture. Its protected elements include all the conventual structures (Cadastre E 138). Today owned by a departmental public institution, the site retains a historic address at 10-12 Chemin du Couvent, although its GPS location is approximate (precision estimated at 5/10).
Available sources (Monumentum, Mérimée base) highlight its role in the local heritage, without specifying its current use (visits, rental, accommodation). The commune of Roussillon, attached to the department of Isère (code Insee 38344), belongs to the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, former Rhône-Alpes.
