Origin and history
The church of Saint-Cure-d'Ars, located at 17 rue du Prénétre-Bergonié in the Kremlin-Bicêtre (Val-de-Marne), is dedicated to Jean-Marie Vianney, parish priest of Ars. It was built to meet the spiritual needs of the southern district of Bicêtre, as part of the Cardinal's Work of Buildings. The first, more modest chapel was built between 1910 and 1933, with a nave of four spans.
The current building, erected in 1980, is distinguished by its concrete architecture and lateral bell tower, topped by an iron cross. It houses two bells and stained glass windows representing the Curé d'Ars and Saint Marguerite d'Antioche. Two paintings by René OLIVIER (1874-1962) are also exhibited, illustrating the life of Jean-Marie Vianney.
The church is part of local religious history, marked by the urban expansion of the Kremlin-Bicêtre in the 20th century. She was the subject of an article in the journal Chantier du Cardinal in September 1987, highlighting her importance in the cultural and spiritual landscape of the commune.
