Origin and history

The Château de Sainte-Pallaye is a 17th and 18th century building, located in the department of Yonne, on the commune of Sainte-Pallaye, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. This monument, inscribed in the Historic Monuments in 1991, is distinguished by its facades, roofs, dovecote and a park drawn from the plans of Le Nôtre in 1740. It was built for the Lacurne brothers of Sainte-Pallaye, an influential local family.

The castle park, planted in 1740 by Polet according to the drawings of the famous landscape architect André Le Nôtre, bears witness to the importance of French-style gardens in the aristocratic architecture of the time. The ensemble, including the commons and the dovecote, reflects the architectural and landscaped style of noble residences in Burgundy.

The designation of the castle as a historic monument in 1991 protected its remarkable features, such as facades, roofs, and the park. This official recognition underscores its heritage interest and its role in local history, although information on its current use (visits, rentals) remains unspecified in available sources.
