Origin and history

Orgnat Castle is a former seigneurial mansion located near Orgnat, in the commune of Saint-Dizier-la-Tour, in the department of Creuse (Nouvelle-Aquitaine). This castle, not visible from the outside, is distinguished by its wrought iron gate opening onto the RD990. Its architecture includes a rectangular housing body of about 15 × 10 meters, connected to a 20 meters long elongated building, accessible by a straight carriageway.

Although its detailed history remains little documented in the available sources, the castle of Orgnat is mentioned in local cultural works. The second novel by the author Creusoise Guéna L, entitled Interferences, takes place in part in this place, giving it a literary dimension. In addition, the ancestors of politician Georges Sarre, from Creuse, worked there, establishing a link between this monument and regional figures.

The castle is part of the Creuse architectural heritage, an area marked by rural and seigneurial history. The manor houses of this type, often discreet, reflect the local social and economic organization, where noble or bourgeois families played a central role in the management of the surrounding lands and communities. Today, it is one of the listed castles of Creuse and New Aquitaine, although its access and visibility remain limited.
