Origin and history
The Saint-Fuscien church of Frocourt, located in the Hauts-de-France, is a rural building dating back to the 12th century. The cross tower and the southern wall of the nave, characteristic of this period, bear witness to its Romanesque heritage. Although transformed over the centuries, it retains a simplicity and clarity of the typical volumes of medieval architecture.
In the 16th century, the church underwent major changes: bays were pierced, a chapel was added to the south arm of the transept, and the vaults of the choir were rebuilt. These changes, while significant, did not alter the overall harmony of the building. The 19th century marks a new phase of restoration, modernizing certain elements while preserving its historical character.
The church presents a plan in Latin cross, with a nave without collaterals, a wide transept and a flat bedside not very prominent. Perched on the hillside, it overlooks the village of Frocourt, offering a dominant view of the surrounding area. Its inscription as a Historic Monument in 1998 highlights its architectural and heritage interest.
The church is classified under Cadastre ZC 42 and belongs to the commune of Frocourt in the Oise department. Its location, at approximately 4 Church Street, and its state of conservation, considered fair in terms of location, make it an accessible place but requiring special attention for its preservation.
