Origin and history

The castle of the Messardière is a seigneurial residence built at the end of the 19th century in Saint-Tropez, in the Var. Offered as a wedding gift to Louise Dupuy, artist and musician, by his father Gabriel Dupuy d'Angeac, trading in brandies, this castle was built for his union with Henry Brisson de la Messardière, cavalry officer who died in 1905. The property, surrounded by a 12.5 hectare park, reflects the opulence of the time and the social status of its first occupants.

After World War I, the castle changed hands several times before being restored and enlarged in 1989 by the chief architect of the Historical Monuments, Jean-Claude Rochette. Acquired in 1992 by the Gibier family, it was then bought in 2019 by the Airelles group, a subsidiary of Lov Hotel Collection, led by entrepreneur Stéphane Courbit. A complete renovation preceded its reopening in July 2021, confirming its status as a luxurious palace.

Ranked "Distinction Palace" in June 2012, the Château de la Messardière is today an upscale hotel establishment, member of the Airelles chain. It offers 28 rooms and 71 suites, as well as spaces dedicated to wellness, gastronomy (5 restaurants) and wildlife conservation, with a partnership with the League for Bird Protection (LPO). Its park and facilities make it a reference of luxury in Saint-Tropez.

The home embodies both the historical heritage of a 19th century bourgeois family and the contemporary excellence of the French hotel industry. Its architecture, natural setting and services make it an emblematic place of the French Riviera, combining heritage and modernity.
