Origin and history
The Musée des Verts is a museum space unique in France, entirely dedicated to the history of AS Saint-Étienne, an iconic football club. Inaugurated in December 2013, it is integrated into the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium, specifically on the first floor of the building at the corner of the Pierre Faurand and Jean Snella stands. This museum occupies an area of 800 m2 divided into eight rooms, offering visitors an immersive route through the club's exploits.
The creation of the museum was financially supported by the Loire General Council, which allocated 2.5 million euros to this project. Designed by Les Charrons, the museum's aim was to attract 45,000 visitors every year. It exhibits nearly 1,000 items, including mythical elements such as the "square poles" of the 1976 European Cup final, historic jerseys, balloons, and even the Mercedes of Ivan .
Among the flagship pieces, the collections include one hundred and fifty jerseys, trophies won by the ASSE, as well as symbolic objects related to the highlights of the club's history. The museum is distinguished by its scenographic approach, designed to plunge visitors into the world of Stéphanois football, while celebrating its sporting and cultural heritage.
