Origin and history
The Hôtel-Dieu du Bellay-en-Vexin is a historic monument located in the Val-d'Oise department of Île-de-France. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, this building illustrates the hospital architecture of the late medieval period and the Renaissance. Although little documented in the available sources, its dovecote, a remarkable element of the farm, was classified by ministerial decree in 1913, highlighting its heritage importance.
The building is part of a rural context where the Hôtels-Dieu played a central role: welcoming the sick, the poor and the pilgrims. In the French Vexin, an agricultural region and crossed by commercial routes, these institutions reflected both Christian charity and community organization. Their presence also attested to the relative prosperity of the villages, able to finance such structures.
Current practical information remains limited: the precise address (11 Grande Rue) and GPS location are known, but the modalities of visitation, public opening or contemporary use (rental, guest rooms) are not detailed in the sources consulted. The mapping accuracy is considered "satisfactory" (note 7/10), allowing a clear identification of the site in the urban fabric of the Bellay-en-Vexin.
