Origin and history
The villa Dall'Ava is an order by Dominique Boudet, passionate about architecture, who entrusts the project to Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas in 1984. Seduced by his bold ideas, Boudet gave him carte blanche to design a family home with pool and views of Paris. However, the modernity of the project causes local protests and trials, delaying its construction until its completion in 1991.
The building is distinguished by its roof-mounted swimming pool, supported by a concrete wall and metal-shaped pillars. The interior spaces, bathed in light thanks to transparent or sanded glass walls, open onto a garden accessible by shutters made of perforated sheet metal or bamboo. The kitchen, separated by a rounded polyester wall, illustrates Koolhaas's attention to detail.
Classified as a historic monument since 22 May 2018, the villa includes in its protection facades, roofs, fence walls, garden and interior. This status underlines its importance in the history of contemporary French architecture, despite the initial polemics related to its integration into the Saint-Cloud district.
