Origin and history

Saint-Sever de Préaux-Bocage Church is a Catholic religious building located in the municipality of the same name, Calvados department, Normandy. Built in the 13th century, it bears witness to the medieval architecture of this region. His choir, particularly remarkable, was listed as a Historic Monument on October 4, 1932, thus highlighting its heritage value.

The church is dedicated to Saint Sever, a bishop of Avranches who lived in the sixth century. This link with a local religious figure reinforces its historical and spiritual importance to the community. Although little detailed information is available on its architecture or subsequent transformations, its partial listing as a Historic Monument attests to its cultural interest.

Located to the east of the communal territory, the church Saint-Sever is part of a landscape marked by Norman history. Calvados, where it is located, is rich in religious monuments dating from the Middle Ages, reflecting the influence of the Church in the structuring of the villages and towns of that time. Its location and dedication make it a key element of local heritage.
