Origin and history
The old house of Saint-Saturnin, classified as a Historical Monument, is distinguished by its rectangular structure supplemented by a circular tower housing a spiral staircase. This 15th-century building features remarkable architectural elements, such as a door and lintel-shaped windows, ground with cellars. The east facade, pierced with chamfered openings, also reveals traces of today's blocked windows, one of which communicated with the stair tower.
The circular tower, located in the southeast corner, is illuminated by two small superimposed windows, typical of medieval buildings. The facades and roofs, as well as the stairway tower, were protected by a registration order in 1972, highlighting their heritage value. The precise address, rue des Nobles in Saint-Saturnin (Puy-de-Dôme), confirms its anchoring in the historic urban fabric of the town.
This house illustrates 15th century civil architecture in Auvergne, where defensive elements (such as narrow windows) coexist with neat decorations (moulds, braces). Although its exact location is estimated as fair (note 5/10), its state of conservation and stylistic details make it a valuable witness to the local heritage. No information is available on its current use (visit, rental, etc.).
