The mas including the master house, including the wine vats, with its park and noria, in full (cad. IS 10: noria, 314, 315: park, 310: house): registration by order of 5 July 2006
Origin and history
The Mas de Bagnères, located in Montpellier, is an 18th century bourgeois country-style agricultural estate. This monument has preserved a remarkable homogeneity and authenticity, both in its architecture and in its secondary elements, such as wine vats, noria and park. These features are a representative example of the rural properties of the Montpellier elite of that time.
Listed as a Historic Monument, the Bagnères Mas was protected by a registration order on 5 July 2006. This order covers the entire farmhouse, including the master house, wine vats, park and noria. These elements, which are still intact, bear witness to the organization and activities of agriculture and wine-growing which structured the economic and social life of the major areas of the region in the eighteenth century.
Available sources, including Monumentum, indicate that the domain is located at 246 rue des Horaces in Montpellier, although approximate GPS coordinates suggest a close address at 74 of the same street. This geographical accuracy reflects the challenges sometimes encountered in the exact location of historic monuments, especially when addresses have evolved or sources diverge.
