Origin and history
The Bastide de Trévouze is a building built at the end of the 15th century, more precisely after 1488, by Pierre Barocelli. Master mason Colin La Coque led the works of this bastide, located near the village of Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue, in the department of Vaucluse. This monument illustrates the civil architecture of the Provencal Renaissance, with defensive elements like a staircase tower still preserved today.
During the Wars of Religion, the northwest wing of the bastide was destroyed and later replaced by an agricultural building. This change reflects the evolution of the use of the bastide, moving from a seigneurial residence to an area exploited for rural activities. The structure has been able to retain remarkable architectural elements, such as the facades and roofs of the east wing, as well as its entrance gate.
Since 1992, the Bastide has been home to a Civil Society for Agricultural Exploitation (SCEA) specializing in fruit production. In parallel, the owner developed a tourist activity by offering gîtes and guest rooms, labeled by Gîtes de France. These initiatives have helped to preserve and enhance this heritage while integrating into contemporary economic dynamics.
The Trévouze bastide was listed as historical monuments on 31 January 1997. This protection specifically concerns the entire stair tower, as well as the facades, roofs of the east wing and the entrance gate. These conservation measures underscore the heritage importance of this site, both for its history and for its architecture.
Today, the bastide remains a testimony of local history, mixing medieval heritage and modern adaptations. Its exact address, chemin du Rialet or 3418 B Route de Trevoise in Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue, allows visitors to discover this historic place, while taking advantage of the services offered on site.
