Origin and history

The farm of the hamlet of Terge, located in Jure in the Loire department, is a historic monument registered since 1994. It is a typical example of the rural architecture of the Forez in the 18th century. The set, structured around a rectangular courtyard, includes a house, barns, stables, a pig house, a pigeon house and sheds. A foyer plate in the kitchen bears the date of 1752, attesting to this period of construction. Only hangar number 7, added in the 19th century, indicates a later evolution.

The facades and roofs of the farm, including the gallery house and the operating buildings, were protected by ministerial decree in 1994. This site illustrates the traditional farming lifestyle of the region, where the buildings were designed to meet the needs of a stand-alone farm. The location, although specified by an approximate address (694 Route des Mures), remains to be confirmed with average geographic accuracy (level 7/10 depending on the sources).

The monument is part of the rural heritage of the Loire, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and bears witness to the constructive techniques and spatial organization of the forest farms. No information is available about its current accessibility (visits, rental, accommodation), or about any owners or historical figures related to the site.
