Origin and history

Maison L'Accommodation, also known as Pavillon l'Accommodation, is a building built between the late 17th and early 18th centuries, located in Albigny-sur-Saône, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This pavilion, originally annexed to a departmental retirement home, was purchased by the municipality. Today, it hosts wedding ceremonies, offering a unique historical and artistic setting.

The walls of the dining room of the pavilion are decorated with seven murals, made between 1689 and 1720 by the painter Daniel Sarrabat. These works illustrate episodes from the History of Esther and Ahasuerus, a Racine piece created in 1689. The first representation of this biblical tragedy coincides with the presumed period of paintings, suggesting direct inspiration. These frescoes, classified as Historical Monument by decree of 23 December 1958, constitute a rare testimony of the religious decorative art of the time.

The building, a communal property, is located at 3 Rue Étienne Richerand. Although its GPS location is considered passable (note 5/10), its exact address is listed in the Mérimée database under Insee 69003. The protected elements are limited to the walls supporting the paintings, highlighting their exceptional heritage value.
