Origin and history
The Breteuil wine warehouse, built between 1867 and 1872, is part of an architectural complex including a house and stables. It was erected by the founder of the Cappnnier establishment, dedicated to the wholesale trade of wines and spirits. This monument is distinguished by its adorned facade, monumental inspiration, and remarkable technical features for the era. It is a unique example in Picardie by its style and commercial vocation.
Ranked as a Historic Monument, the warehouse was registered by order of 21 October 1994 for its heritage value. Its precise location at 19 rue d'Amiens in Breteuil (Oise) is attested by the Mérimée and Monumentum bases. The building reflects the economic boom of the region in the 19th century, marked by the development of trade and logistics infrastructure.
The accuracy of its location is considered "very satisfactory" (note 8/10), and photographs licensed under Creative Commons, such as those of Dominique Bethune, document its current state. Although the practical information (visits, services) is not detailed in the sources, its protected status underlines its importance in the industrial and commercial heritage of Hauts-de-France.
