Origin and history
The Sagnes-et-Goudoulet inn farm is an emblematic building located in the village of the same name, in Ardèche. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, it illustrates the rural architecture of this period, combining agricultural functions and reception for travellers or visiting workers. Its classification as historic monuments in 1986 underscores its historic importance and its remarkable state of conservation.
The location of the farm in the Ardèche department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region reflects the historical context of a rural area marked by livestock, food farming and local trade. The inn farms then played a central role in the economy and social life, serving as relays for merchants, pilgrims or travelling artisans. Their robust structure, often made of stone, made it possible to withstand climatic rigors while offering a versatile space.
The classification of the inn farm by order of 18 February 1986 protects the entire building, referred to as Ferme-Auberge (Catastre AK 72). This legal status guarantees the preservation of its original architectural features, while integrating the site into the French cultural heritage. Available sources, such as the Merimée or Monumentum database, confirm its precise address to Sagnes-et-Goudoulet (code INSEE 07203), without however detailing its contemporary use (visits, accommodation, etc.).
