Origin and history
The building housing this shop dates back to the end of the seventeenth century, when Paris established itself as a major economic and cultural capital. Its architecture reflects the construction techniques and urban uses of the time, although few original elements remain today.
The wooden front, added at the beginning of the 19th century, illustrates a common model of Parisian shops of this period. Composed of forms scanned by six pilasters, it shows a sober and functional aesthetic, characteristic of the shops of the first half of the 19th century. Despite the disappearance of many similar examples, this front was preserved for its heritage interest.
Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 23 May 1984, this front is a rare vestige of traditional commercial signs. Its protection underscores the importance of maintaining modest but emblematic architectural elements that reflect daily life and the evolution of business practices in Paris.
