Origin and history

The Bressane farm of Tenarre is an emblematic building located in the hamlet of Tenarre, on the town of Baudrières, in Saône-et-Loire. This monument, characteristic of the rural architecture of the Burgundy Bresse, dates from the seventeenth century. Its inscription as historic monuments, effective since 7 March 1990, protects its facades, roofs, and a fireplace dated 1641 decorated with a JHS monogram.

The farm illustrates the agricultural and architectural heritage of Burgundy-Franche-Comté, a region marked by a strong rural tradition. The Bressane farms, like the one in Tenarre, were often organized around a central courtyard and had wooden galleries typical of this geographical area. Their role was central to the local economy, based on agriculture and livestock.

The listing of the Tenarre Farm as a historic monument underscores its heritage importance. The protected elements, such as the 1641 chimney, bear witness to the daily life and construction techniques of the time.
