Manoir du Bus : classification by order of 2 March 1933
Origin and history
The bus mansion, located in the municipality of Bus-Saint-Rémy in Normandy, dates from the second quarter of the seventeenth century. This monument is representative of the seigneurial or bourgeois constructions of this period, often related to the farming or the management of a rural estate. Its architecture reflects local traditions, sometimes mixing defensive elements inherited from the previous centuries with more comfortable 17th century layouts.
Ranked a Historic Monument by order of March 2, 1933, the Bus Mansion bears witness to the heritage importance attached to this type of building in Normandy. At that time, mansions often served as residences for wealthy families, while playing a central role in the economic and social organization of surrounding countryside. Their preservation makes it possible today to understand the lifestyles, social hierarchies and agricultural activities of the region under the Old Regime.
The available data indicate that the mansion is located precisely at 8 Queen White Street, although this information may come from an approximation based on GPS coordinates. The commune of Bus-Saint-Rémy, attached to the département of the Eure (region Normandy), is part of the territory of Vexin, a historical area marked by a high density of monuments and preserved rural landscapes.
