Origin and history
Le Calvaire Sainte-Anne sur le chemin de défruitement is a religious building located in Scey-sur-Saône-et-Saint-Albin, in the department of Haute-Saône, in the region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Built in the first quarter of the 17th century, this monument bears witness to the architecture and religious devotion of the modern era in rural France. Its location on a defunct path suggests a spiritual and practical role in the daily life of the inhabitants.
Ranked as historical monuments by order of 27 September 1979, Calvary Sainte-Anne illustrates the importance attached to the preservation of local heritage. This type of monument, often erected near villages or along roads, served as a gathering point for processions or prayers, thus strengthening community ties. The Haute-Saône, a region with a strong agricultural and Catholic tradition, had many similar calvaries, although few were as well preserved.
The property of the Calvary is now owned by the municipality of Scey-sur-Saône-et-Saint-Albin. Although the available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) do not specify its current state of visit, its classification in 1979 guarantees its protection and its enhancement in the context of the French historical heritage. Its approximate address, 2 Route de Rupt-Sur-Saône, allows it to be located in a rural environment characteristic of Franche-Comté.
