Origin and history
The Tronchy Chapel is a religious building located in the commune of Iguerande, in Saône-et-Loire, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Built in the 17th century, it is distinguished by its status as a historic monument, registered since June 16, 2014. This place of private devotion houses murals depicting the apostles Simon, Philip, James, John, Peter and Barthélémy, made at the same time as the building.
A notable element of the chapel is its liter, a painted or carved strip decorated with coats of arms and currency. It traces the genealogical tree of the successive owners of the Tronchy fief, thus providing historical testimony about the local families. The chapel, owned by the commune, is fully protected, including its interior decorations and its location at the place called the Tronchy.
Although its access and current use (visits, rentals, etc.) are not specified in the sources, its listing as historical monuments underscores its heritage importance. The available data also indicate an approximate location at 25 Grande Rue in Iguerande, with cartographic accuracy considered fair (note 5/10).
