Origin and history

The Saint-Maurice Chapel, located in Domgermain in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle (Great East Region), is a historical monument dating back to the 14th and 18th centuries. It stands out as a rural church dedicated to St.Mauritius of Agaune, a holy martyr venerated since the Middle Ages. Its architecture and murals testify to its local religious and cultural importance.

The chapel was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 25 June 2015, thus protecting the entire building, including its murals. Owned by the commune, it is located on the rural road of Saint-Maurice, although its precise location is considered mediocre (note of 5/10). This monument illustrates the religious history of Lorraine and its rural heritage.

Available data from Monumentum and the Merimée database indicate that the chapel is associated with Insee code 54162 (Meurthe-et-Moselle). Although its current use (visit, rental, etc.) is not specified, its status as a protected monument makes it a key element of local heritage. The region, marked by a rural and religious history, has seen this type of building as a place of community gathering and devotion for centuries.
