Origin and history
The chapel Saint-Pierre is a 15th century religious building, located in the cemetery of the village of Boisset, in the department of Cantal (region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). This monument, typical of rural Christian architecture, is distinguished by its interior frescoes, protected as historical monuments since 1955. These murals, restored in 1986 by Serban Angelescu, illustrate the artistic and spiritual importance of the chapel to the local community.
In the 15th century, chapels like Boisset played a central role in the life of the villages of Auvergne. They served as places of worship, assembly for religious ceremonies, and sometimes funeral spaces, as evidenced by its location in the cemetery.
