Origin and history
The house at 6 Place du Peyrou in Sarlat-la-Canéda is a historical monument whose construction spans two distinct periods: the 15th and 18th centuries. It illustrates the local architectural evolution, combining ancient techniques such as torchis and half-timbers with more recent elements. Its facades on the square and on the street, as well as its roof, were inscribed in the Historical Monuments by decree of 16 December 1963, highlighting their heritage value.
The structure, probably built in bricks or torches with half-timbers, reflects the traditional materials used in the area. Its location in the heart of Sarlat-la-Canéda, a preserved medieval city, makes it a testimony of urban habitat throughout the centuries. The accuracy of its location is estimated to be "a priori satisfactory", based on available data, and its official address also includes a reference to rue de La-Boétie.
Although the practical information about his visit or current use (rent, guest rooms) is not detailed, his status as a protected monument guarantees his conservation. The house is part of a larger architectural complex, characteristic of the Dordogne and New Aquitaine, where the medieval and classical built heritage coexist harmoniously.
