Origin and history
The house on 7 rue de la Juiverie in Nantes is a building built in the 15th century. This building, typical of the medieval architecture of Nantes, was partially listed as historic monuments in 1926, before being classified in 1984 for its street façade. Its initial inscription concerned the entire house, with the exception of parts later classified.
The final classification by decree of 21 December 1984 relates specifically to the façade, stressing its heritage importance. This monument illustrates the urban evolution of Nantes, a major port city in the Middle Ages, where half-timbered or stone houses testify to the commercial prosperity of the period. The Rue de la Juiverie, meanwhile, evokes the history of medieval Jewish communities in the region.
Today, the house on 7 rue de la Juiverie remains a preserved example of the architectural heritage of Nantes. Although the sources do not specify its current use (visit, rental, etc.), its status as a historical monument guarantees its conservation. Available references, such as the Merimée database or Creative Commons licenses, facilitate its identification and enhancement to the public.
