Origin and history

This house in Narbonne, in the Aude, dates from the 15th and 16th centuries. It is distinguished by its screw staircase turret, whose hollow core retains a talute base. A door window, partially visible on the first floor, has prismatic mouldings and a flamboyant base, characteristic of the late 15th or early 16th century. These architectural elements bear witness to the influence of late Gothic and early Renaissance styles in the region.

The interior courtyard once housed a gallery on two sides, later replaced by a balcony. Above the staircase door, a carved stone console in the shape of a human head adds a decorative touch. The facade on the courtyard, the staircase and the turret were inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of December 19, 1946, highlighting their heritage value.

The precise address, 6 rue Cassaignol, and the Insee code (11262) confirm its anchoring in the historic center of Narbonne. The GPS location, although considered mediocre (note 5/10), allows to situate the monument in a neighborhood marked by medieval civil architecture.
