Origin and history
The Bergougnan House is a villa located at 64 Blatin Street in Clermont-Ferrand, built in the first quarter of the 20th century. Its architecture is distinguished by the alternation of bricks and stones, creating an original decor. The roof, partly on the terrace, adds to its unique character. This monument illustrates the architectural innovation of the time, mixing traditional materials and modernity.
The house, including its interior decorations and its garden with its fence, was listed in the Historic Monuments by order of 13 December 2000. This classification protects the entire building and its surroundings, emphasizing its heritage importance. The villa is representative of the bourgeois residences of Clermont-Ferrand at the beginning of the twentieth century, a period marked by urban and architectural growth.
The painter-glass artist Taureille contributed to the realization of certain decorative elements of the house. His intervention, although specific, is part of a local craft tradition. The Bergougnan house remains a testament to the architectural and social history of Clermont-Ferrand, reflecting the taste of the time for elegant and functional buildings.
