Origin and history
The house called Dr Le-Monnier, located in Versailles, is a building built during the 4th quarter of the 18th century. This monument, inscribed in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 17 May 1977, also includes a gardener's house. Its official address, according to the Merimée base, is 11bis rue Champs-Lagarde, although GPS coordinates suggest a close location, on the 15th of the same street.
Versailles, in the 18th century, was a city deeply marked by the presence of the royal court and its servants. Doctors attached to the person of the King, as the name of this monument suggests, played a key role in the daily life of the aristocracy and the local bourgeoisie. The homes of that time often reflected the social status of their owners, combining architectural elegance and functionality.
The inscription of this house as a Historic Monument in 1977 bears witness to its heritage importance. The protected elements include both the main house and the gardener's house, highlighting the interest for the whole estate. The accuracy of its location, however, remains poor, with a score of 5 out of 10 depending on available sources, which may complicate its exact identification for visitors.
