Origin and history
The Wood House, located in Landerneau in Finistère, is a 16th century historical monument. This building is distinguished by its facade in wooden panels covered with slates, with corbellations on each floor. The structure has changed very little since its construction, with the exception of the ground floor where the shop bay has been enlarged. The windows on the first floor still retain their wooden shutters with vertical backstage, a rare and well preserved architectural detail.
The building has a posterior façade also in wooden panels, highlighting its authenticity. Classified as a historical monument, this house illustrates the civil architecture of the Breton Renaissance. Its location on the Place du Marché (now Place du Général-de-Gaulle) suggests a commercial or artisanal role in the urban life of Landerneau at that time. The accuracy of its location is considered poor (note 4/10), but its official address is 8 Place du Marché.
No information is available concerning its opening to the public, any rental or associated services. The sources mention only its status as a protected monument and its architectural features, without mentioning specific historical events or characters related to its history.
